Barceló Hotel Group has expanded its footprint in the Maldives with the grand opening of Barceló Nasandhura Malé, the capital city’s first 5-star hotel. This marks Barceló’s second hotel in the Maldives, following the 2024 opening of Barceló Whale Lagoon Maldives, a 5-star resort with 100 luxury villas, including 30 overwater, on Bodufinolhu island in the South Ari Atoll. Located near the South Ari Marine Protected Area, a renowned whale shark habitat, it’s a diver’s dream. The Nasandhura opening bolsters Barceló’s Asian portfolio, which now spans 11 hotels across six countries: Maldives, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, UAE, and Oman.
