MIOT International, a leading healthcare provider from Chennai, India, has launched the Maldives’ first comprehensive rehabilitation centre, a groundbreaking move to bring world-class recovery services to Maldivians. The MIOT Rehab Centre, inaugurated today, aims to help patients regain strength and quality of life after illness, injury, or surgery without the need to travel abroad.

The state-of-the-art facility is equipped with advanced technology for head-to-toe rehabilitation, covering specialties like neurology, cancer, orthopedics, trauma, cardiopulmonary, geriatrics, pediatrics, sports medicine, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and psychotherapy. Designed for accessibility, it includes wheelchair-friendly elevators, grab bars, and accessible restrooms, ensuring patient comfort.

A multidisciplinary team of experts, including neurologists, neurosurgeons, psychiatrists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, speech-language pathologists, dieticians, and rehabilitation nurses, delivers personalized care to speed up recovery. Patients can also access real-time consultations with Chennai-based specialists through MIOT’s Next-Gen Telemedicine service.

“We’re thrilled to bring this level of care to the Maldives,” said a MIOT spokesperson. “Our goal is to empower Maldivians to recover faster and live better, right here at home.”

The centre offers a full range of services under one roof, from core therapies to emergency care via a resuscitation room and psychotherapy for cognitive issues like memory loss or insomnia after brain injuries. This holistic approach builds on MIOT’s decade-long partnership with the Maldives, where it has been a trusted name in healthcare.

MIOT International, with 63 specialties and 250 full-time doctors in Chennai, continues to support the Maldives through specialist visits to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), staff training at IGMH and Addu Equatorial Hospital, and medical camps across Male, Addu Atoll, Kulhudhuffushi, smaller atoll hospitals, and Senahiya military hospitals. Backed by referrals from Aasandha and private insurers, MIOT’s commitment remains strong.

The launch of the MIOT Rehab Centre marks a new chapter in Maldives’ healthcare landscape, offering hope and healing to countless patients seeking to reclaim their lives.
