Maldivian, the national airline of the Maldives, is actively looking to expand its presence in Southeast Asia by appointing sales agents in Bangkok, Thailand, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This move is part of the airline’s broader strategy to strengthen its regional network and enhance connectivity to key international markets.

The application window for interested parties was open until February 11, 2025, inviting travel agencies and representatives with expertise in airline sales and distribution to collaborate with Maldivian.

This initiative follows Maldivian’s recent expansion efforts, which include acquiring a wide-body Airbus A330-200 aircraft. With this addition to its fleet, the airline has successfully launched flights to three major Chinese cities—Chengdu, Beijing, and Shanghai—marking a significant milestone in its international growth.

The appointment of sales agents in Thailand and Malaysia is expected to support further expansion, increase brand visibility, and attract more passengers from these key travel hubs.

Looking ahead, Maldivian has ambitious plans to further strengthen its global reach. The airline has announced its intention to acquire another wide-body aircraft later this year, which will enable it to introduce flights to European destinations.

These new routes are expected to be operational by October 2025, marking a major step in Maldivian’s journey toward becoming a more prominent player in the international aviation market.

By partnering with experienced agents in Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur, Maldivian aims to boost ticket sales, improve customer engagement, and establish a strong foothold in the Southeast Asian region.
